Here is a great testimonial from a family of four in the Des Moines area:

I Overeat on Tuesdays

Yes, I admit it.. I overindulge on Tuesdays! It’s true! I’ve tried hard to resist, but now… well, let’s just say I don’t fight it anymore! Tuesday evenings you’ll find me eating everything!

You see, on Tuesdays I pack up the kids and the boxes and we head to West Des Moines to meet Jan, the farmer (or sometimes her husband Tim) in a parking lot. Sounds like a drug exchange, doesn’t it? Our family is definitely addicted!!! Each week we “exchange” our empty produce boxes for FULL ONES!

Oh my, the delight we have! I always grab the enclosed note to see what’s in the box this week! I read off the contents while we drive home (yes, this could be dangerous). The boys and I are always excited! And if truth be told, we’ve been known to start eating from the box immediately! Yes, unwashed and uncooked, right out of the box, driving in the car! (Thanks Jan for washing them so well before you box it.) Once we had ALL the snap peas gone before we made it back home. And the boys thought the carrots tasted much better than those little baby ones we get in a plastic bag at the store. Who would have known carrots come in different sizes!

What a great learning experience for the whole family. We’ve all tried items we’ve never had before… okay, I’m still trying to figure out the kohlrabi. My dad and my sons absolutely LOVE the yellow watermelons and I can’t get enough of how wonderful everything tastes! Such a great variety too! No wonder I overeat!!!

I love the program. I love feeling that I can put safe, nutritious food on the table for my family. I am so thankful for everyone’s hard work and for the blessing our family has received this year!
